OUTPOST OF HEAVEN

Since being married and

starting my life on a new path as a wife and mother,

 the idea of starting this blog has heavily weighed on my mind. I started it right after we got married and off and on would write and share travel pictures from when we lived in Europe, but I feel that God has something more that He is trying to make out of me. I feel strongly that He is trying to use me in my weak and limited writing experience. 

So I am finally committing.

 For me, my blog is a public journal,

 a place where people can come to stay in touch with my family,

 get a good giggle in,

 get some new ideas,

 and ponder spiritual things.

 I am by no means a great writer,

 or even a good one,

 but I have taken it upon myself

to pretend.

This blog is a place for me to collect and share my thoughts on home and family, parenting, personal development and self-care, marriage and more as it pertains to creating an Outpost of Heaven. 

Wait so what's an outpost of heaven?

I have come to the beautiful

--possibly only understandable to me--

conclusion that a Home is an Outpost.

OUTPOST: A station established away from the main body of an army to protect it from attacks

3 Basic Principles:

LOVE

PEACE

SAFETY

It is a place of love.

"Love thy neighbor as thyself."

 (Galatians 5:14)

A home,

just like an outpost,

is a place of peace.

"Peace, Peace, be still."

(Mark 4:39)

And a place of safety.

"Thou makest me to dwell in safety."

(Psalms 4:8)

So what does it really mean to "strengthen home and family"?

strengthen the Love.

strengthen the Peace.

strengthen the Safety.

We aren't perfect at this AT ALL! But we are trying. And every effort blesses the family even more.

"No effort is wasted,

and every effort is appreciated." 

Maybe not appreciated by our kids! But God knows, and I'm SURE He appreciates our efforts.
