Because it was going to cost us an arm and a leg and probably our first born child to fly back to Riga from Morocco, We took a layover in Brussels Sunday and spent less than a full day there.
We got in really late Saturday night and realized we had booked a hotel next to the OTHER airport all the way across town. So we ended up paying an arm and a leg anyways for a taxi ride.
Us after realizing that we still had a long night ahead of us...

The next morning we were ready to go to church! We had figured out the bus we needed and how to get there and all of that but when we went out to the bus stop we were standing on the wrong side of the road and watched the bus pass us...And the bus only came once an hour. We didn't have time to wait for the next one, so we walked. SIX miles to church. Upon arriving, we found out that it was stake conference. We got to listen to Elder Patrick Kearon and his wife speak. We also got to meet a bunch of missionaries who were so kind to take us to the train that would take us right to airport that we needed. What a blessing! Otherwise I don't know how we would have gotten to the airport.

About two weeks later the ISIS terrorist attack happened in Brussels. It was so heart breaking, and even more real to us just having been there and seeing and meeting those missionaries who were present and injured in the attacks. Prayers around the world are still going out to them and their families.

While walking to church, we actually passed right through where they Belgium police carried out the raids in response to the attacks.

And that wraps up our big long adventure! However, we still took a couple more small trips after this. We are so grateful for the opportunity to meet so many people from so many different cultures and backgrounds. Thanks to everyone who helped make this possible!
